More Than Monoliths is an interview series that encompasses a wide variety of Black creators from all over the nation.

It is a program in which Black creative excellence is recognized and celebrated by supporting artists monetarily and being a platform to promote their work to a wider audience. Through the talks the goal is for the audience to be able to see not only the beauty of the work or practice of the creator, but the beauty of their spirit as individuals as well.

No one has the same story or practice. We all have our own views and reasons why we chose to be a creator. Though we are all Black and creators, We are our own people.

We are not Monolithic

The curated three artists take over The Buxton Initiative instagram page for their designated month. To conclude the month there is an artist talk that gives a deeper look into who these artists are and their own individual motivations.
