The Buxton Initiative will be one that helps preserve and encourage people to keep striving. With the tools of our resilient history as our backbone, we will continue to fight and never let up. Together we are stronger than apart. This organization will offer people the space to feel seen, heard, and present. This represents the fried chicken or fish smell you couldn’t get out of your clothes before school on Monday.. You are home here.

We believe that through art we liberate people from the world. Art can save the world and we are here to prove it. We will have classes centered around art and providing the tools to empower Black kids. For too long these rules and tools to succeed in this art world have been held secret. This is knowledge for everyone and they deserve to hear it as well.

Buxton is and is made up of the community at large. This is for them and I want it to be made by them. The community should understand the importance of having an organization that is all about preserving and embracing the Black experience. That is one that is always overlooked within our society. What happens to people who never feel seen?  We want to provide a space to showcase the beauty of us and our stories. We are heroes that deserve to be focused on. I want to provide the full beauty of us. Show the brilliance of skin when it is captured by film. We still glow in black and white.. Every person deserves to live in that world.

We believe that our voices matter and that it is the most important thing that we have. We want to provide a space where only our voices are being heard and being felt. We want to provide text that is speaking about us and meant to be read only by us. Buxton is a place where the white narrative is expunged, eviscerated, and expelled. You feel the black voice imbued through every aspect of buxton.. We are not after thoughts, we are the only thought..
